Wedding Reception Venue

One of Essex’s top wedding venues

Built nearly 200 years ago as stables for the working horses on Marks Hall Farm, The Reid Rooms provide a unique rural setting combining the best of modern facilities with timeless charm. The attractive weather boarded buildings are set in beautiful countryside and back on to the moat of the Grade II Listed 15th century farmhouse and its superb gardens.

Inside, there is a wealth of exposed timber beams and fittings reflecting the long history of The Reid Rooms as working farm buildings. Now, tastefully renovated and converted to the highest standard, they have been furnished with fine antique pine and rural paintings.

The Reid Rooms offer wedding guests a linked series of rooms surrounding a landscaped courtyard. This gives great flexibility, giving guests the option to gather for quiet conversation in the drawing room, while others enjoy an evening disco in the bar.

The Courtyard: This attractive landscaped area is sheltered on three sides, and provides views over the moat and 15th century Marks Hall Farmhouse. Tables and chairs, parasols and a minstrels’ gallery above provide a delightful setting for drinks in fine weather.

From the courtyard, a paved walkway leads between raised planted beds to the Ceremony Room. With an exposed timber framework, this carefully converted building can accommodate up to 100 seated guests. Larger numbers of guests can be accommodated by having a combination of seated and standing guests. The Ceremony Room provides an intimate and very special setting for all civil ceremonies.

The Dining Room has fine oak and elm beams, trussed with American pine. Subtle lighting compliments the atmosphere. The Dining Room can seat up to 120 guests (up to 150 guests can be seated if incorporating the Lounge).

After the Wedding Breakfast, the Lounge, complete with log burning fire, and the adjoining Conservatory, offer a comfortable retreat for drinks and coffee in a quiet, relaxed atmosphere.

The Bar/Reception Room provides a spacious area for reception drinks in inclement weather and a dance floor for evening entertainment.

Since opening in 1996, The Reid Rooms have hosted over 1,500 weddings and are pleased to be able to offer flexibility as well as assistance based upon many years of experience.

You may provide your own drinks for both the reception and during the wedding breakfast with no service charge or corkage fee.
